against Utah St which we haven't done the rest of the season. It really screwed Utah St up in the running game as they couldn't combo and get to the linebackers. They tried to adjust with more straight one on ones and they lost those badly. For the rushing game it was a very smart move by Tuiaki and the staff. Of course the flip side is it put your linebackers in bad position in the passing game, but we still had 6 back so it shouldn't have been too big of an issue.
Against Arizona St it was almost always a 5 or 6 man front. Yes those 5 or 6 weren't all lineman, but with so much hybrid between a quick end or a big linebacker it really isn't that big of a difference. Against Utah we saw some traditional 4-3 which we haven't seen much of the rest of the season. We also almost always brought pressure. Against both Arizona St and Utah we played far more man coverage than we have the rest of the season.
USF was a 3-3-5 almost straight up for most of the game. Not an attacking one but a soft one.
Against Boise we were in more of a 4-2 for most of the game (in the box-often another hybrid LB/safety on the outside). The problem in the running game was D-Line was getting pushed back and the linebackers were really, really bad. We also played our signature soft zone where we drop over 10 yards and let them complete 5 yard passes with room to run.
