Guess how many FBS football teams went undefeated during the 1980s?

The point is that it is extremely uncommon to go undefeated, especially with a difficult schedule. Over the past 10 years, there have only been four undefeated national champions, and there was only one between 2011-2017.

Sure, other teams have gone undefeated since 2000, but they all did it with significantly easier schedules than the one BYU had this year. This makes college football frustrating, but it's also what makes college football great. Half of the teams in college football lose every single week.

If my math is correct (and it probably isn't), if your team had a 50% chance to win each game during a 13 game season, the probability of winning every single game is 0.01%, or 1-in-10000.
