Some stats to back up the claims regarding Tuiaki's defenses not being as good as statistically ranked on per game
rankings.

So far this year BYU is -2 in First Downs. Yes not really a stat, but we have allowed more first downs than we have gotten. We are ranked #103 in FBS in first downs allowed.

Opponents have run 40 more plays through 6 games than BYU has. Due to this we are #85 in time of possession despite running the ball, our RB and our offensive line being team strengths.

Since being near the top of the NCAA after two weeks in 3rd down defense, we have allowed 40% or higher 3rd down percentage in the last 4 games for a total average of 41.76%. That ranks #91 in FBS.

We are #63 in tackles for loss per game. We are #66 in sacks per game.

We are #58 in yards per play given up.

We are tied for #81 in red zone defense (percentage of red zone trip resulting in points).

Going into last week (the stats haven't updated yet for this past week's games) we were #49 in points allowed per drive. Going into that game FEI had us with the 8th best offense (will drop) and the 44th best defense (will also drop). We are winning games this year with a very efficient offense and a defense that has been good enough.

But for some of you all that matters is points per game which we are at #28. It doesn't matter that this defense is keeping off the field one of the most efficient offenses in all of college football. It doesn't matter that we don't get many short fields. It doesn't matter that we don't get any really tired defenses that only got a couple of minutes rest because of a 3 and out. It doesn't matter that we are #49 in points per drive because we are #28 in points per game! That is a big difference.
