This year (2022) 11.8% of our recruits are rated top 500 nationally. That's the highest we've had since 2012.
It's also the first year since 2014 that we've had more top 500 recruits than Utah.
Don't get me wrong - they're still beating us in Top 1000 guys and percentage-wise in getting top recruits, so we're not caught up yet. But we also aren't even in the Big 12 yet, so it's a good trend. Key is going to be continuing that trend. Which is why the rest of this season is so important. If we finish 8-4 and play Charlotte in the Independence Bowl, it'll hurt. But if we go 11-1 or 10-2 and are at least on the periphery of discussion for NY6 (even if we don't make it), that keeps the momentum alive.
