You may well be right about this, but I don't understand it.
If you do a Google search for "freshman beanie" or "freshman cap," none of them look like what the Sailor Cougar is wearing.

It's weird to me that anybody gets excited over this. Yes, it's tasteful, but it's a pretty insignificant decoration.
