Both sides
If BYU scores 24 points, many say they should win. So why didn’t we? Because our defense was on the field for 35 minutes and 75 plays.
Baylor had the ball 12 times today (10 actual drives)
BYU had the ball 10 times today (9 if you don’t count our 3 play run out the clock drive)
Offense issues- we can’t give up opportunities on the rare occasion the defense gets a stop… it happened 4 times today.
Defense issues- 4 out of the last 5 games the defense has given up a long TD drive to open the second half. This is bad. It’s deflating to the team and demoralizing. BYU also only forced 2 punts today. When BYU just cut the lead to 14, they needed a stop to get back in it. But instead Baylor was able to go on a 6:33 drive to score a TD and end the game.
All the defense needs to do is get 1 to 2 additional stops and the game is different.
The offense needs to not sputter in it’s drives- too many momentum building moments for Baylor.
