Following on to what has been discussed about Grimes, Baylor should feel VERY
good about that hire. Look at BYU in the 2000's - I think most would consider the 2020 and 2006 BYU teams to be the two best in the past two decades. One thing those two teams had in common is they were in year 3 of having an offensive line coached by Jeff Grimes. Wherever Grimes has been for a few years, programs have achieved great results largely connected with O line play.

Auburn won the national championship in 2010 in year two of Grimes tenure as O line coach - Cam Newton won the Heisman trophy behind a Jeff Grimes line. In his 2nd year at LSU (as OL coach and Run Game Coordinator), LSU broke a school record for rushing in a single season - Leonard Fournette became an All American RB. Baylor seems to already be benefitting from Grimes in year 1.

Grimes was a great hire by Sitake, and he was a great hire by Aranda. There is a reason why Dirk Koetter took Grimes with him from BSU to ASU, and a reason why Dan Hawkins wanted him at Colorado. In fact, Mack Brown tried to hire him at Texas in 2010 after the Auburn national championship, even offering him the highest salary for an O line coach in the country. He opted to stay at Auburn.

I am not looking forward to having to face his offensive lines in conference play in the Big12.
