Clearly Jaren is a talented runner and can do a lot of damage with his legs. It also opens up the passing game more if teams have to worry about him pulling the ball down and scrambling on every play.
Do you believe the reason we're not seeing more running from Jaren is (A) concern over his immediate injury and trying to take it easy until he recovers 100% or (B) general concern about his concussions? If a mix, which do you think is the more dominant reason?
If B, I wonder what that means about his overall value at QB. I know the coaches (who have been gathering evidence for months and months in preparation for this season) believe he gives BYU the greatest chance to win. But if one of his key assets (his speed and skill as a runner) is limited because of concerns about his long term health, is that really still a key asset if you can't use it? I have zero desire to put him in a riskier situation just to help BYU win games, but I wonder about how his concussion risk affects the coaches' evaluation of who should be playing.
Maybe if he's just not 100% yet, when he heals a bit more he will be able to still take more calculated risks like we saw in the first couple of games.
