Tie rods are the weak link of ifs rigs. I carry spares, my dad upgraded his on his H2 when he had it.
They fell apart on my LX and I had to replace them, they couldn't take the beating.
I went under my disco 2 and the boots were ripped, so they'll eventually need to be replaced, but that's just end joints, the actual steering link is a 1.5" tube of steel and behind it is a drag link of 1.5" steel. They just won't snap, but the joint can fail.
