The NL might have some good batters on the bench that can play DH, but they generally are not as good as DHs in the AL (if they were, they would be starting, almost regardless of their defensive deficiencies). The NL might have a small advantage (in normal years) playing in the NL stadium in that their pitchers have at least picked up a bat during the year.
