The primary male lion mates with all of the lionesses, but a lesser male lion may mate with a lioness if the primary male first stops mating with her. Male lions have quite the savannah bedroom prowess, and if a female is in heat, a male may mate with her every 15 minutes for a few consecutive days. Mufasa is the obvious epitome of what a male lion should be, so it is unlikely that he could ever let a female lion in his pride go unsatisfied. But, it is possible, though improbable, that Mufasa allowed another male lion to father Nala.
