Yeah. My wife is an elementary school teacher, and her district recently switched back to a K-5 model instead of K-6th.
As a result, they needed to have some of the elementary ed teachers teach at the middle schools. I could definitely see a few teachers she works with go to the middle school and think that teaching like this is still the way to for middle school/junior high kids.

My wife has taught grades 3rd through 6th in her 12 years of teaching so far. She incorporates a lot of singing, rhyming, and motions/gestures into her teaching to help her students remember concepts - especially math.

I could never see her doing something like this though - looks too over the top.
