...than at any point in history, and that's not good for the game of baseball. Fans want to see defenders making plays, baserunners on the base paths, etc. — When we have K, BB, or HR, you only need a pitcher, catcher, and hitter for those at bats...everyone else is irrelevant, which is not good for the game and reduces the incentive for athletic defensive-minded players from playing the game.
I like the idea of saying infielders have to be on the dirt, two infielders on each side of second base, and let the outfielders go where they will. (It's likely too costly to try and move one of your three outfielders to the "rover" position, so you'd see less of it.)
