They've all got at least one championship in the modern era (1992 onward). Alabama has 7, Florida and Florida St have 3, Ohio St has 2 and Miami has 1.

Going even more recent, Bama has 6 CFP appearances, Ohio St has 4, and the other schools are in-state powers.

If Virginia or Syracuse or Indiana or TCU or Oregon State was arguing they were in the mix with those schools, we'd all laugh. I think it's mostly that BYU folks are VERY active in recruiting on Twitter. When Zion Steptoe decommitted from Utah, his twitter was 50% Ute fans wishing him well wherever he ends up, 40% BYU fans telling him to come to BYU and 10% random other fanbases (mostly in the southeast where he's from) making a play for him.
