So by the metric that would be used they have the 13th best pass defense in the country.
Now don't get me wrong it doesn't tell the whole story. But neither does the PER for them. Teams don't pass often for a reason.
It would also be important to note are healthy receivers in that game. Pau'u before he got hurt.

Yes the offense looks different when you are playing USF and Utah St. Two of the worst defenses in the entire country.
