Skills due to other teammates filling that role, if I remember right. If he had come to the Y he would have helped fill an immediate need left by Jimmer and IMHO would have been a major part of the offense, would have progressed differently, and would been drafted. Pure speculation, but I don’t think playing for the UofU helped him reach his ceiling.
