I don't disagree that there are things that UVA can do (such as with recruiting) where their gain is our loss.
What I think is silly is the idea that if we "cheer for UVA" then things are somehow metaphysically going to benefit UVA to our detriment. "Cheering for UVA" isn't going to hurt us.
Personally, I don't care how UVA does and I don't cheer for them. I think Bronco did good things for BYU and I generally hope good things happen to him. I also hope that his assistants progress and that we maintain positive relationships with those of them who are similarly inclined toward BYU — who knows that the future will bring. But I hope we beat them in every meaningful recruiting battle and that we beat them when we play them. I just think that those advocating for people to "cheer against UVA" are not actually helping BYU . . . they're often just acting on feelings of rejection and betrayal because they think that Bronco leaving BYU was somehow unfaithful to them and the dear ol' Y.
