Bonneville Power used my house as a test bed for a loop system in 2006... I can't remember the name of the manufacturer - Water Furnace? But, according to Idaho Falls Power and the Bonneville folks, my home was being heated at only 50% of what a similar-sized home would have used if I had been using another system.

Now, I will tell you that my wife HATED that system. In some Idaho winters (when it was -30F), it felt like the system just could not keep up. For certain rooms of the house, we purchased space heaters for her to be happy. For me, I run hot, and I love the cold, so it wasn't an issue.

For new construction, it was really easy to have the excavator spend an extra few days digging the trenches. I did a zig-zag pattern on the property.
