2 things they care about is
1. SoS (I.e. number of P5 teams on your schedule)
2. Wins against ranked P5 teams
Last year BYU passed the eye test but didn't play any Pts and thus got knocked down because of it.
This year they have essentially a P5 schedule and the committee has given them the benefit of the doubt due to their 5-1 record vs. the P5.
I think the committee honestly tries to be objective in their rankings, but they have an innate bias toward P5 teams so they give credit for wins vs. P5 and discount wins vs. G5.
