Byu can’t stop the run with a three man front so watch for that in the first quarter if Tuiaki goes with a 3-2-5 alignment against their spread attack. The dL and lbs byu is starting can’t stop the run in that alignment let alone when they aren’t outmatched in the box. We no longer have Tonga to help bail us out.
Although USC is a passing team they won’t fall for the drop8 again, and will probably just gash byu on the run and dump off passes to their backs. And when they throw tell their qb to be patient and wait for someone to break open because byu won’t generate a pass rush with three.
Byu would actually be smart to use some run blitzes on first down and try to pressure more on third downs (to surprise them), but I don’t see Tuiaki doing that.
The byu offense probably won’t get many possessions if usc controls the ball in the ground. So again it’ll have to be productive when it does.
