My daughter and her husband are having a house built for them. After many delays
they should be able to move in in April.

They could never get a final cost from builder due to “fluctuating material and labor costs.” They were told it would be in the “neighborhood” of $640K and they were OK with that. The builder finally gave them a “final” price of $685K with no guarantee that might not increase at closing. And this is from a friend who is giving them a good deal, supposedly.

He said they could bail if they wanted to because he knows he can sell it for more as a spec home. After over a year since selling their last home they feel they cannot wait longer as things will just get worse.

$685K is doable but will make things tight for them. I feel for people looking in this market.
