If they looked at it that way, we'd likely be behind Iowa, given that they have a lot of "impressive" wins, like beating #17 Indiana, #9 Iowa State, and #4 Penn State. That largely makes up for their two losses to unranked teams.
In any case, it's way stronger than our wins against #21 Utah and #19 Arizona St. And all of our losses were to unranked teams as well. So clearly Iowa should be ahead of us, right?
Until you realize that "#17" Indiana actually finished 2-10 as the worst team in the Big 10, "#9" Iowa St finished 7-5 with a loss to Texas Tech and "#4" Penn State also finished 7-5 with a loss to Illinois. None of those 3 finished ranked.
Meanwhile our victory over Utah now stands as beating a top 15 team and our loss to Baylor was against a top 10 team.
