The writing room are disciples of JJ Abrams IE “who cares if it makes sense, it’ll look cool!”. And for a fantasy series, in my opinion the best way to help the viewer suspend disbelief of the fantastic is to have rules of what can and can’t happen, be internally consistent and obey those rules of the universe. The show runner and the producers have sworn up and down that lots of thought went into every change and adaptation, but it doesn’t feel that way to me. It feels like they are changing lore not because it’s easier to present or translate to the screen (which I can understand and accept), but because it looks cool.
