He eventually ended up coaching at BYU and saving our bacon. In fact, his record of bowl appearances is astounding, as was his ability to recruit some truly amazing players. Outside of professionalism, he took extremely seriously the commitment that even the football team should be focused on the mission of the institution which is based on the religious beliefs of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He focused on it so much that some fans criticized him for focusing too much on the religious aspects. While he was the coach at BYU, there was no such thing as a more BYU guy then Bronco.
