Both FSU and BYU beat those opponents 1-0. (FSU also tied UVA 1-1 earlier in the season) I expect FSU to try and employ a similar defensive scheme against BYU the way Santa Clara did last night and simply wait for opportune time to take the ball down in transition. SC successfully frustrated BYU all night by never really allowing BYU to get any precision penetration into the box to get some good clean shots off. SC consistently stuffed the box and always had 2, 3, and sometimes 4 defenders ready to zone in on any efforts BYU made to advance it into the box in front of the goal.

That all said, the hopeful side of me says BYU should still have an advantage with much more fan support, more familiarity with the field, and even more importantly their high pressure offensive attack. Hopefully FSU's lack of experience with BYU can be an advantage too. In the few games BYU has struggled with their offense this year, they've typically followed it up with a regression to their mean by getting many more balls to the back of the net. Hopefully that plays out again on Monday. The extra day of rest should serve them well too. If ever there was a team of destiny, motivated, and hungry for it all, this team has it.

What FSU has going for it is that they played for the ship last year and has been in the final 3 out of the last 4 years, so they are very experienced, will be hungry after their shootout loss to SC last year in the final, and will be no stranger to the pressure.

So, with that all said, the realistic side of me says it's probably going to be another grind it out game for both teams. Either winner by 1 in a 1-0 or maybe 2-1 type of game, with strong chance to go to another shootout if necessary.
