I'm sure my view is skewed because I run into the successful trust fund kids more often than the unsuccessful ones... but I've met plenty of unsuccessful ones. I imagine that because of my work I know more trust fund kids than just about anyone on CB.
I think most of them have ups and downs... they drink too much... then they realize it's pretty dumb and so they stop drinking... they have too much sex... then they grow up and look for more healthy relationships etc.. they have a maturing process just like everyone else, but in the end their money provides wonderful life opportunities.
The church warns us about money... but doesn't discourage us from pursuing it/having it. I think it's clear that these warnings are made for good reason. Money ruins lots of people. My take though is that for most people, inheriting a lot of money significantly enriches their time on earth.
My plan is to give my kids a head start in life as long as they are responsible. So far, they are tracking better than expected.....
