not sure how much they paid him, but Ryan Smith is a major stockholder as is
Todd Peterson and some VC groups. He owned just over 50% IIRC so he probably got close to $1B. So since he has lived in PR for a few years and this would be Capital gains, I guess he pays no taxes. Not sure exactly how it works there.
