I’ve towed my enclosed utility trailer with a side by side in it and that was all it could handle. I think you’d be pushing it towing anything over 4000 lbs and closer to 3000 is ideal

If you were towing a trailer with a Ford Ranger (7500 tow rating), what would you think the max dry weight should be?

Half, are you sure a ranger has a 7500 tow rating?

Yes, if it has the tow package, otherwise it's 3500
