Growing up, the story (depending who you ask) is that his family called him John John, which eventually became Juju when some couldn't pronounce it well. The alternate version is that a family member called him "choo choo" because he liked trains.

But in either case that made him go by Juju. And then he added Schuster as an additional last name to honor his stepfather who raised him.

But it's made for a much different name. Juju Smith-Schuster. Or John Smith
