Maybe it's my own personal observation that baseball talent in Utah is far better than I'd expect given the available

population base, climate, and available offseason training resources.  I recall Mike Littlewood making that case a few times as well.  Honestly, if we captured all the guys that we recruited that were drafted out of high school and left for MLB, we'd be in a better position.

I'm not sure how to quantify that except through observation, and having grown up playing in Texas.  On the flipside, there are good points made for and against in this older SLTrib article from 2014.  MLB Draft: Is baseball talent pool drying up in Utah? - The Salt Lake Tribune (sltrib.com)

So who knows.
