I've known people who didn't have great experiences with them, but it was because they got one for the kids or whatever reason, and were never really sold on having a dog. If you truly want a dog that will integrate with the family a Golden is almost a "can't miss" breed.

And as puppies they're little yellow puff balls of joy.
