I've done the same with my family but only to the tune of maybe 7 or 8 people across two domains. I'm just going to
recommend they setup or switch back to an regular gmail account and then setup email aliases at the domain level. It has always bugged me that if you used gsuite free they wouldn't allow you to setup email forwarding aliases unless you paid. Once I pull out of gsuite I can setup those aliases no problem with my domain provider.
