I don't think there is anything wrong with just using a Kindle
I use a Kindle Paperwhite. It's perfect in areas with sunlight.
I rotate between that and my phone.
I do most of my reading at night in bed and my phone is fine there. I use reading glasses because I'm old, but I'd need reading glasses for an actual book too.
If I'm outside, however, it's the Paperwhite every time. I love it and they're inexpensive.
