In addition to the tax considerations mentioned, you have a capital allocation
question - you can choose to invest your cash in a salary payment to your wife/you, which provides immediate return to you on your investment with low risk, or you can choose to re-invest that money (as you have been doing) into the business. The question is whether or not that ROI on investing in the business, considering the risk, is better than taking the salary now. If your business is delivering a high return on invested capital (again, considering risk), then it may be wiser to grow your equity value vs. taking cash out (salary) of the business now. It comes down to how profitable your business is and how confident you feel about future growth prospects.
