Pope had to first get his backcourt right on offense. They tried for a while turning more to Knell as a third scoring option behind AB & TeJ — which didn't prove reliable for too many games. He's not a guy who can handle a D keying on him — & he's just not long enough to be a 3 for long stretches (& he simply can't guard most 2s). Now they're obviously going more to Knight — with Spencer's role expanding back to where it was — but now more clearly as the last scoring option — with him focusing on moving & passing the ball & of course on D. Meanwhile, Lohner & Gideon are clearly being challenged to be fairly aggressive scorers besides D specialists. I think getting that rotation plan figured out was a higher immediate priority to Pope than feeding the ball more to Fouss was.
But I do think with that in place, Pope's plan is to now turn this team more from AB & Te'Jon's team — to AB, TeJ & Fouss's team. Fouss is clearly our most talented scorer besides AB. And probably has the highest scoring ceiling of the whole bunch.
