I am not saying that the cougars have a big chance to beat Gonzaga. But *IF* they had won both games this week, the Gonzaga game next week would have been set up for maximum hype: Home game vs #1. Win and you share the lead in the WCC. Etc.

Now unfortunately I think the Gonzaga game has much less national significance. One TERRIBLE call (the hail mary) and the Cougars went from potentially challenging Gonzaga for the championship to drifting back into the middle of the WCC pack...behind the Zags and Gaels. Sounds all too familiar. 🙁

I am of course still excited about the post-season. Will we get a good first-round matchup? Will Pope get his first NCAA tourney win? etc. But the WCC regular season drama was deflated last night.
