I know this will sound like a nerdy comparison, but I see parallels to Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai to that of Star Wars "Light side of the Force" (Jedi) and the "Dark side of the Force" (Sith) respectively. Miyagi-Do is a defensive non-aggression form of Karate similarly to a Jedi using the Light side of the Force, the exception would be Mace Windu whose Form 7 lightsaber skill makes him fight with aggression and yet maintain the Light Side of the Force without turning to the Dark Side. Cobra Kai is to embrace aggression and be on the offensive like the Dark side of the Force similar to a Sith. Here are some Star Wars character comparisons:
Mr. Miyagi=Yoda
Daniel LaRusso=Obi-wan
Chozen=Mace Windu
Terry Silver=Darth Sidious
John Kreese=Darth Vader
Robby Keene=Anakin (I know Vader and Anakin are the same but play along)
Johnny Lawrence=some Gray Jedi who once embraced the Dark Side but has ventured away, but hasn't fully embraced the Light Side either. Could put him as Anakin too, but that would mean he embraced Miyagi-Do first. Not something he has done, but Robby has.
Miguel Diaz=Similar to Johnny more Gray Jedi-ish.
Any thoughts?
Other assessments going into Season 5
I'm super excited for Chozen to come back in what looks like one of the main arc stories of season 5. His form of Miyagi-Do is going to rock Cobra Kai's world. Terry Silver has no idea who he will be messing with. Unlike LaRusso, who has emotional scars from Terry Silver causing him to fear him, Chozen has no such scars and won't fear Silver. Chozen also has financial resources from his father's business in Okinawa to hang with Silver's financial backing. Sufficeth for me to say I'm pretty excited to see how this turns out.
