My grandfather who was born the US
Went back to Japan for elementary school then came back to the states, was out in internment camps, joined the US army fought with the 442 in Europe and lived the rat of his 92 years still had a Japanese accent when he died.
It’s not a reach at all for Miyagi to still have an accent.
