I think it's weird that the rule exists to begin with. Imagine if soccer had a
similar rule. If someone has a shot on goal you can't interfere or you can't take a shot off the ball rebounding off of the post. Why does it matter? Both players want the same thing. If the other team doesn't want you to score then they need to box out.
