We called that area Arco Acres because of all the oil workers in that area.
We loved it up there. The ward was great and the fishing was awesome. Numerous nights were spent doing all night fishing trips on the Keani River.
You would enjoy the experience. The permanent fund checks give you at least one vacation a year.
We lived both Summers and Winters in Anchorage. Our kids went to Abbot O Rabbit Elementary.
Our experience is that people move up ther for 1 of 2 reasons. 1. They are trying to avoid people or 2. They are outdoorsy and loving the Alaska Experience. You do not want to deal with category 1 people. They tend to be very depressed.
Palmer is a good area to consider as well but is is a bit out of town.
