Now, the caveat is that the round about had huge traffic - so much traffic that it was often backed up 20 cars deep - so this is an out of normal situation. I agree with you that with typical situations a round about is better. Everytime I drive in Europe I come back wishing we had less 4 way stops and more roundabouts.
