I have a neighbor. Each of us in my neighborhood live on 1.5 acre lots. Another neighbor had a big dog of some sort that she would let roam the neighborhood all day. The dog would come to my neighbor's and harass their chickens.
One day, after losing another chicken or two, my neighbor caught the dog in the act, and shot it with his 4-10 right in the southwest corner of his lot. Buried it right where he shot it.
Day or so later, the lady came round asking if he had seen her dog. Neighbor says, "Last time I saw it, he was right over there..." and pointed to where he shot it. "Don't know where he is now."

She eventually got another dog, but doesn't let it roam now.
