The battery but is tough enough to get through all of the edging I needed. It’s easy to handle and has the rolling wheel which I was skeptical of. I got the 18v because I already was invested in that eco system for tools, otherwise I may have given the 40v a harder look. That said I have a 40v Kobalt trimmer and it isn’t as good as the 18v Ryobi that I just got.
