measures the available numbers - there are 12 months, there are up to 31 days, and there are 2022 years (in the ADs). - smallest to largest.

So, ours makes sense too. Just based on a different measurement.

I like the idea of using the "/" for MM/DD/YYYY and "." for DD.MM.YYYY

Year, month, day is the way to go. Makes dates easier to sort.
