That's a great point...cheaper for sure..but a lot of districts have gone away
from that to make their patrons happy. If it rains they try to cram everyone in a gym for 2.5 hours.

they lived a full year. That is the accomplishment, but I agree, it's fun for them even if miserable for everyone else
