To be honest with you, the Detmer experiment should have gotten Holmoe fired. It was a horrible hire on multiple levels. You don't take one of the best players in program history, someone who has only coached small private school high school ball, and put him in a job without recruiting experience or play calling experience at the D1 level and then surround him with a first year Head Coach, First year RB, First year OL coach and First year TE coach, and a 1 year WR coach and expect it to work. And I'll say this again, you especially don't do it with your programs crown jewel former player.

I'm glad Holmoe wasn't hired, he's certainly redeemed himself since then... but if Holmoe was an AD at any other college and he made that same decision then... he'd be out of a job in a heart beat.
