Metro area is full of transplants who maintain their primary loyalty to their native hometown sports teams. Most of the teams are bad to mediocre most of the time, and there has only been one championship (Dbacks 2001). The Suns have been the most consistent and respectable outside of 2011-2019 but still have never won a championship. The locals will jump on the bandwagon when the teams get good but abandon them when times are rough. Crappy, cheapskate team owners (Sarver, Kendrick, Bidwill) who would rather save a buck then invest to put a consistent championship contender together.
