I love that there is an honor code. I think that parts of the honor code are dumb - particularly the dress and hygiene code that has nothing to do with actual moral behavior. Also - I disagree with some of how the honor code is administered.
I get that BYU is a private university that gets more applications than there is space for. I get that the honor code is an easy way to funnel out some of those applicants. But I favor the continued evolution of the honor code office to continue reducing the role of HC consequences and more of a focus on repentance - with the ecclesiastical leaders more involved than the school admin.
Does that make sense? Stand for something. Don't openly try to be hypocritical. While also accepting grace.
