Wouldn't be surprised if NIL had a lot to do with him not wanting to keep coaching at that level. Really the only place he could do that now would be at AFA, Navy, or Army. If you think about it, its a perfect fit for him. Not only would he not have to worry about boosters and NIL, he's a kind of a perfect coach for a military academy anyway. He knows how to defend the triple option better than anyone, he would get the most out of his teammates, he would feel like he's fulfilling a higher purpose in coaching those cadets.
Would be kind of cool if 2/3 service academies were headed by LDS coaches.
