I also bought an aftermarket warranty.
I did my research and am going into first time Land Rover ownership eyes open.
Swapped out the original alloy wheels for some white steelies first thing (stated as evidence that I don't care what people think, I just needed 18" wheels for the extra air down capacity). The first young men's activity I took it to, one of the other leaders saw the rear wheel and stated that he was feeling bad that I was driving on a spare, then he noticed that all four where matching. I laughed and told him I've got a fifth underneath too. It's certainly not an aesthetic thing. I have pushed it past the limit of any other stock car I've owned and have yet to find it's limit.
It's truly a remarkable vehicle and honestly nothing else out there ticks as many of my boxes. A Land Cruiser comes close but the 3rd row sucks and it's a bit wider. Also, it would cost nearly double what I paid. I could spend $3,000/year and on repairs for 10 years and still come out ahead.
I bought a 2016 LR4 for reference.
